Why waterproofing is the whole job
A tiled shower doesn't fail at the tile. It fails behind it. Water gets through grout — that's normal, grout isn't waterproof — so what stops it is the membrane and the drain underneath.
We build showers on the Schluter Kerdi system with an integrated bonded-flange drain, so the waterproofing is continuous from the wall to the drain with nothing to work loose. We also do our own floor prep, leveling, and mud work, which means the substrate is flat and pitched properly before a single tile goes down.
None of this is visible when we're finished. It's the difference between a shower that lasts twenty years and one that gets torn out in six.

- What areas do you serve?
- We work throughout Johnson County and the greater Kansas City area, including Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee, Leawood, De Soto, Lawrence, and Kansas City. We are based in De Soto, Kansas. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call 913-269-1212 and ask.
- Do you do commercial work as well as residential?
- Yes. We have worked commercial alongside residential since 2002 — wall and floor tile at scale, floor prep and leveling, and granite and quartz surfaces. If you are putting a bid together, call Tony directly at 913-269-1212.
- How do you waterproof a tiled shower?
- We build on the Schluter Kerdi system with an integrated bonded-flange drain, so the waterproofing runs continuously from the wall to the drain with nothing to work loose. We also do our own floor prep, leveling, and mud work, which means the substrate is flat and pitched properly before any tile goes down.
- Do you install heated floors?
- Yes. We install SunTouch radiant floor heating under tile. It is worth deciding on this before the floor goes in, because retrofitting it later means taking the tile back up.
- Do you do your own floor prep, or does someone else?
- We do our own. Tile is only as flat as what is underneath it, so we handle self-leveling and traditional mud beds ourselves — including the floors other contractors would rather not take on.
- What countertop materials do you work with?
- Natural granite and Cambria quartz, for kitchens, bathroom vanities, and commercial surfaces. We offer a range of edge profiles including eased, bullnose, bevel, and ogee.
